What is a Doula?
A doula is professionally trained in childbirth. She
provides emotional, physical, and educational
support to the family that is expecting, experiencing
labor, or has recently given birth. Our purpose is to
help woman have a safe, positive, memorable,
encouraging birth experiences.
A doula is a non-medical companion who can
support you and your family emotionally and
physically throughout childbirth. During labor we
will come alongside you and your family. We will reassure and encourage you and help you with
change of positions, breathing, massage, and
relaxation. We are here to serve you unconditionally.

How Does a Doula Differ from a Midwife?
There is one significant difference between a
midwife and a doula. Midwives provide medical care for you during pregnancy, birth, and immediate postpartum. They ensure mom and baby are medically safe. They may provide medications okayed by birth parents and they catch baby when they arrive.

Doulas will provide undivided emotional, informational, and physical support during
pregnancy, birth, and immediate postpartum. Many doulas are working towards being future midwives.
